Higher Up Ministries

Community Support

For Higher Up Ministries to be successful it takes the support of the whole community in a variety of ways.

Financial Support.

Churches, Individuals, Businesses and Agencies have joined Higher Up to provide the financial support needed to make a positive impact on the Boxwood Drive Community. Through monthly donations, yearly grants or special gifts, our partners help provide what is needed to help others step up to a higher place.

If you are interested in partnering with us financially, or to make a donation to the ministry of Higher Up, simply visit the PayPal icon or you can contact Rod or Jan McKenzie at (847)398-8094

Higher Up Ministries holds several fundraisers throughout the year . . . a Bowl-a-thon and Dinner & Auction, just to name a few. These would not be successful without the many people who help us plan, invite their friends & co-workers to, and participate in. Several people have said that our fundraisers really should be called “Fun”-raisers, because they leave our events with a smile on their faces!

Call the Higher Up Office at (847) 398-8094 for more information.

Prayer Support.
Being a Christian organization, Higher Up believes in the power of prayer. Over twenty years of serving the Boxwood Community we have seen lives strengthened and positive changes happen in this tough neighborhood. One of the reasons is a team of people who pray regularly for the youth, families and needs of the neighborhood. Our prayer team has committed themselves to take praying for the neighborhood on as a ministry. They receive monthly prayer cards with current needs and receive special requests
via e-mails.

Volunteer Support.
People have great gifts to offer, and Higher Up uses people in ways that they feel comfortable to serve in. Weekly Adult Volunteers help run the Youth Center or assist with our Small Groups. Big Event Volunteers are always needed to greet people, take pictures, or help us set up and/or tear down. On many occasions, we also need cooks and people to serve in the kitchen.

Community Involvement.
Many Businesses, Churches and Agencies participate with Higher Up in a number of neighborhood-wide events.

The Boxwood Bash.
A festival that has been running since 1991 on Boxwood Drive to build community pride, and strengthen trust and relationships between the Boxwood residents and the Village of Mount Prospect. The festival invites area Churches, Businesses and Agencies to set up simple and fun game booths, and hand out prizes and also information about the services that they offer. There is free food, great games, fun entertainment and a sense of pride in the Boxwood neighborhood.

Neighborhood Bible Clubs.
2 Area Churches join Higher Up to run a 5-day Backyard Bible Club in the park on Boxwood during the Summer. Parents feel safe knowing their children are near by, and each summer, between 80 to 100 children have heard that Jesus loves them and can make a difference in their lives.

Job Training Classes & Big Events.
Local Businesses participate in our Hire Up Job Training classes. They help our participants to gain the tools they need to succeed in the business world. The Library, Service Clubs and Churches have also participated in our Youth Center’s big events. Telling stories, making crafts and playing games are just a few ways they have helped provide positive experiences for teens and families.
